General
Q. If I want to give external users access to Pasidium, will I
have to create them in my domain?
A. No. Pasidium can support both domain users and virtual users. Virtual
users are created in the Pasidium user database and are able to access the
system immediately.
Q. Does your search page include the contents of the documents or just the
title and description?
A. The search system is designed to search both Pasidium
information (such as Title, Description, Author etc.) and the contents
of the document.
Note that an appropriate IFilter must be installed to enable
searching
of document contents. By default, IFilters for most common
documents such as Microsoft Office, Text, and HTML files are installed

Installation & Deployment
Q. Will we need someone to come and install Pasidium on our server? How long
will this take?
A. Pasidium is shipped with an installation program
that can have the system up and running in less than 1 hour.
If you plan on installing Pasidium without
a consultant, you should have someone available with moderate
to high technical skills. The person will need to be a competent
administrator of a Windows network
environment and have a basic understanding of ODBC databases
(specifically Microsoft SQL server).
Q. I already have all my users set up as domain users. Do I have to manually
add them all into Pasidium?
A. No. Pasidium provides a utility program for synchronising
both users and groups from your Windows domain or active directory.
This utility can
be set to run on a scheduled basis so that new, updated or
deleted users and groups are updated in Pasidium. Pasidium
can support users and groups
from more than one domain.
Q. Your Software Requirements page says I have to install Microsoft
Office on my server. Why do I have to do this? Will Pasidium still work if
I don’t?
A. The server copy of Microsoft Office is used to provide
HTML conversion services for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
If you do not install
Office, Pasidium will operate without any problem, but users
will not be able to generate HTML conversions.
Q. Is Pasidium compatible with Window 2003 server?
A. Pasidium has not yet been tested for Windows 2003. Support for this
operating system will be provided in the near future.

Document Management
Q. Can I bulk upload documents from my network file shares
into Pasidium?
A. Yes. Any folder in Pasidium can be accessed as a
Web Folder. This allows you to copy and paste folders and
documents into Pasidium using a familiar
windows explorer style interface.
The same mechanism can also
be used to extract information in bulk out of Pasidium.
Q. Is there a limit to the types of files I can upload to Pasidium?
A. No. Pasidium will allow you to upload any type of
file. However, users of Pasidium will need to have the appropriate
application installed to be
able to download and view files. For example, if a user attempts
to open an AutoCAD DWG file, but does not have AutoCAD installed,
they will only
be able to save the file to their local computer.
Note: Pasidium
does not fully support uploading of composite files such as a web site.
The files can be uploaded, but embedded links from one file
to another will not be maintained.
Q. What is the process for editing documents once they have been loaded into
Pasidium? Do I have to download them to my computer to perform the editing
and then reload them into Pasidium?
A. Yes and No. Pasidium supports the WebDav protocol for
editing documents. This means that for any WebDav compliant application
you can edit documents
directly on the server. For applications that are not WebDav compliant
you will need to download the document to your local computer before
editing.
Note: Regardless of what method you use to edit documents, you must have
appropriate permissions to be able to add, edit, draft or publish documents.
Q. I uploaded a Word document into your evaluation site and a HTML
version of it was created but when I printed it some of the
formatting wasn’t
right. In particular, the header which included my company
logo and address wasn’t displayed.
A. There are a number of issues relating to converting Office documents
to HTML. One of the most common is that HTML is a "pageless" environment".
This means that HTML has no concept of page breaks, headers
and footers.
As a general rule, HTML conversions of documents in Pasidium
should be used as a quick way to scan the content of a document. If you
want to retain
precise layout and formatting you should open the document
in its native application (Word, Excel or PowerPoint)

Security
Q. Can I configure Pasidium to run using a https certificate?
A. Yes. You will need to install the certificate on the web server, and change
the Pasidium URL parameter for your site to start with https:// instead of http://
